PVC CARBON FOOTPRINTING AND SUSTAINABILITY TOOL

A new PVC carbon footprinting and sustainability tool has been developed to allow quick and easy assessments of environmental and economic sustainability of PVC products and processes along the whole supply chains.

For environmental sustainability assessment, the tool enables estimation of the following life cycle environmental impacts:

Economic sustainability assessment can be carried out through value added analysis, also included in the tool.

Features
This free-of-charge tool has the following features:
  • Based in Excel and easy to use

  • Avoids the need to use complex and costly Life Cycle Assessment software

  • Enables non-expert users to estimate environmental impacts and economic costs quickly and easily, applying the "80/20 rule"

  • Includes a range of databases - materials, energy, transport and waste – and reduces data collection effort

  • Enables analysis of data and results in an easy-to-understand way

  • Allows identification of hot-spots and improvement opportunities
