Important: Please read the following before attempting to run the CCaLC Optimisation tool. 1. About the CCaLC Optimisation Tool - Demo version The CCaLC Optimisation tool enables optimisation of supply chains on carbon footprints and economic costs/profits. This is a demo version of the tool and its purpose is to demonstrate the capability of the full version of the CCaLC Optimisation tool. Two example case studies are available. Paint (Demo) is loaded up as the tool is opened, and is related to identifying an optimum product from alternatives, given the objective function(s) and system constraints. The second study – Bioethanol (Demo) - optimises a product system along the whole supply chain, identifying the best raw materials, processing conditions etc. The full version of the tool is available on request at email@ccalc.org.uk. 2. Platform requirements The CCaLC Optimisation tool was designed and built using Microsoft Excel versions 2003 and 2007 for Windows XP (English-language version). Please download the appropriate version of the tool (2003 or 2007) to suit your version of Excel. The tool may not run properly on non-English operating systems as well as on older versions of Excel or Windows. It is designed for use on PCs and is not suitable for use on Mac computers. 3. Security settings In order for the CCaLC macros to work correctly, the Excel security settings need to be set to either Medium or Low. This can be done through the Tools>Macros>Security menu. When CCaLC is loaded, the user will be prompted by a dialogue box to either disable or enable the macros. The user should click on Enable Macros in order to run CCaLC. 4. CCaLC Optimisation manual The manual can be found under the CCaLC Optimisation Help menu option. 5. Disclaimer By using the demo version of the CCaLC Optimisation tool the user accepts the following terms and conditions: • To use the tool solely for their own purposes • Not to use the tool for any income-generating consulting services • Not to copy or distribute the tool to a third party. 6.
